Description
This image was captured with my infrared camera which gives it a delicate feel. Arrow arum, originally named "Tuckahoe" was a staple vegetable of the Indians in this area. It is a plant with rhizomes laced with a toxin that they knew how to bet rid of through cooking, heating or drying. It prefers slow moving waters and grows along the banks of rivers and streams in eastern North Carolina.
